Introduction to film faced plywood

What is plywood ?

Introduction to Plywood

Plywood is one of the commonly used materials for furniture, which is one of the three major boards of Engineered wood. It is a three-layer or multi-layer board like material formed by rotating wood segments into veneers or planing wood into thin wood, and then bonding with adhesives. It is usually made of odd layers of veneers, and the fiber directions of adjacent layers of veneers are perpendicular to each other.

The Use of Plywood

Mainly used in furniture manufacturing, interior decoration, and various types of panels for residential buildings. Next are industrial sectors such as shipbuilding, vehicle manufacturing, various military and light industrial products, and packaging.

Plywood specification and thickness

Plywood is composed of thin wooden pieces, such as plywood, plywood, and occasionally odd numbers. The specifications of the plywood are generally 2440MM in length and 1220MM in width. According to the combination of different layers of plywood, the thickness of the plywood varies. Generally, there are several specifications such as 3cm board, 5cm board, 9mm board, 12mm board, 15mm board, 18mm board, etc. Of course, there may also be other thicknesses according to special circumstances.

Advantages and disadvantages of plywood

Advantages of Plywood

It can make reasonable use of logs without generating any debris. Light weight, high strength, beautiful texture, insulation, small deformation, convenient construction, no warping, and good transverse tensile resistance.

Disadvantages of Plywood

The cost is relatively high, and it is not as smooth as the surface layer of the density board. When there is insufficient dry explosion or production process issues, resulting in deformation of the board, it is difficult to adjust the external force. When using plywood as the base layer and then bonding fireproof boards, aluminum plastic boards, and other decorative boards on the surface, it is not as strong as using medium density boards as the base layer.

Types of plywood

Category 1

1. Plywood for coating: This type of plywood is mainly used for furniture, sewing machine tables, and various electrical equipment shells that require transparent coating on the surface.

2. Decoration plywood: This type of plywood is mainly used as decoration materials for buildings, furniture, vehicles, and ships.

3. General use of plywood: This type of plywood is suitable for packaging, lining, and other purposes.

4. Thin wood decorative plywood: This type of plywood is mainly used as a high-end decorative material for buildings, furniture, vehicles, ships, etc.

Category 2

1. One type of plywood is climate resistant and boiling water resistant, with advantages such as high temperature resistance and steam treatment.

2. The second type of plywood is water resistant plywood, which can be soaked in cold water and short-term hot water.

3. The third type of plywood is moisture resistant plywood, which can be soaked in cold water for a short time and is suitable for indoor use at room temperature. It is used for furniture and general building purposes.

4. The four types of plywood are non moisture resistant and can be used indoors under normal conditions. General purpose plywood materials include sample wood, extreme wood, ash, birch, elm, poplar, etc.
